Not a siphon. It's a vacuum pot. When you boil the water the steam expanding pushes the water into the top, then when you remove the heat it contracts and pulls the water through the grounds back into the lower part.

Many people call them vacuum pots, but most people in specialty coffee also know them as a siphon, siphon brewer, or on rare occasion syphon.
